* Updated to Manifest V3.
Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.
This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

backspace мне запилите! и скроллбар нормальный, вместо полусовместимого серого уродца. гугл в своём стиле: сначала сломать то, что отлично работало, а потом запилить кривой-косой костыль. и данные это барахло наверняка не ворует, лол. допускать "Просмотр и изменение ваших данных на посещаемых сайтах" ради возврата нативного, кроссплатформенного, привычного хоткея? навигацию по табу и стрелкам ещё похерьте, а то людям слишком удобно и привычно. клоуны, бл
Extension works but why was this taken out in the first place?
I really missed this when google removed the ability to go back to the previous page by hitting the backspace button. I know they did it for the people who hit the backspace and lose the text they just typed but I prefer the backspace button opening the previous page and losing the typed text. If it stops working make sure you are actually still logged into chrome. I came here to review it and find out why it had stopped working only to discover I wasn't logged into chrome/google. As soon as I logged in, the extension began working again.

Google funkci Backspace deaktivoval proto, že uživatelé klávesu mačkali omylem a pokud zrovna vyplňovali textové pole, přišli tak o práci. Proto namísto Backspace zavedl kombinaci Alt+šipka doleva. Pro nás, kteří akceptujeme dané riziko a chceme funkci zpět, je tu toto rozšíření.

It is great when it works, but it occasionally seems to fail to detect the backspace. Sometimes multiple presses work in that case, and sometimes not.
It works, and it won't kill you to install the add-on and hide it from the chrome-menu. Also, if you really don't want this add-on, just pressing (alt)-(left arrow) works too...
deactivated itself
