Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.

What's New in 3.0:

==================

* Updated to Manifest V3.

Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.

This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

Creating an extension which barely works to replace a standard shortcut that has been in place for 10+ years is insane. Please bring back the back button

Just installed it, seems to work at least on one site I tried it. Pretty ridiculous that it's an EXTENSION with its own icon. Just to do this!? Why not just a g*odamn option in Settings...

It works for me, just as I expected. :)

Doesn't friggin work! Listen, put back the backspace button. I have never in my life hit the backspace button while filling out a form and lost data. This is the most infuriating update I have ever had since iTunes. I'm gonna go find out how to downgrade my browser, not dealing with this bs for another second

Stupid that this is needed. Backspace has always been default back navigation for every browser I've ever used. Not sure why you think it needs to be changed to a two key combination. Fail again google, this one sucks as bad as your new hangouts.

It still doesn't work with google search (when typing in the search form). It edits content in the form instead, even though the focus was NOT in the form! But it automatically changes the focus to the search form and starts editing! And it also doesn't work right here in google webstore. I'm sorry but I used to the button which does just ONE thing. And this thing is to go back. Browsers are not only for dummies. Very, very bad idea... I want old version of Chrome, is it possible?

Giving it 5 stars so that other users know it works (on my win 10 pc at least). However, shame on you Google. I would expect Apple to do something like this, like how they just removed the headphone jack, but not from Google. You know what the difference is? Apple is right (to remove an antique plug) and you are wrong Google (to remove backspace). And I don't even like Apple.

Only worked on some sites. For example on YouTube, you still have to alt+left arrow to navigate back. Kinda defeats the purpose in my opinion. Can't we just go back to normal web navigation, or give me a box to check to turn it on/off.

Works good. But why isn't this just a checkbox in the settings?
