Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.

What's New in 3.0:

==================

* Updated to Manifest V3.

Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.

This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

It is funny how much irritation i got from chrome disabling the back space function, well at least now when they wasted 30 min of my time trying to fix it. i can continue using it.

Works perfectly. I assume the low rating is due to people rating Chrome's removing this feature in the first place.

Stupid google took away a feature that many people used. i shouldnt have to add an extension to do what google already did before... maybe its time to leave chrome

This app should be the other way around, for people that DON'T want to go back when they press backspace. It's seriously really annoying, dumbing things down for people that can't use forms correctly. I hope that you remove the need for this addon in the next update.

If I could rate Google, it would be a zero star rating for removing such a basic fundamental process of their browser. This isn't the first thing that Google has done with their Chrome browser that is so incredibly stupid, but it's definitely got to be by far the worst. It's called "Let's take a Chrome / inattentive user issue and then remove the feature, instead of fixing the real issues." Oh and when people complain that Google "fixed it" (kind of like all those "nailed it" Pintrest pictures) they give them bloatware instead of making the browser better by giving users the option to bind their own keys. I am only rating this extension "Loved it" because: A) The higher rated this app is means that more people will see it and use it and B) Because the app does restore the backspace functionality.

Don't understand why the option was removed in the first place, but the extension does work.

Why oh why did they change this in the first place? Works ok in browser, but Chrome PDF plugin - fill in forms does not work as it used to. Bad Google, bad!

Seriously? Why on earth is this even required in the first place - Chrome should not have changed the behaviour that everyone has been using in all browsers for the past 20 years.

As other reviewers said. There wasn't any need for such a thing. I thought my keyboard bugged at first, then tried to use Alt + Backspace, as I thought that was what a tooltip said. If something works fine, don't touch it like seriously.

So now we need an extension to give us such a basic functionality? Wow, good job.
