Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.

What's New in 3.0:

==================

* Updated to Manifest V3.

Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.

This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

Removing that feature was like winning in special olympics. You think you've achieved something, but you are still retarded.

It was killing me that this was gone. Using chrome on a laptop requires having this functionality

The extension works fine, but why on earth am I downloading an extension for something that should be a browser setting?

As many users have stated, this extension fixes something that used to not be broken. For all of the comments that "it was stupid and never should have been that way" I'm not sure who pressing 2 buttons should be considered a superior user experience to hitting two. I'm not sure I ever accidentally hit backspace and lost my information as the purported reason professes, the browser in these cases always offers the "leave" or "stay" options to make sure it wasn't a mistake.

The backspace function has been around since the dawn of the internet! Why the hell Google would "Experiment" by taking this one step process out only to replace it with a two step process is ridiculous! Many thanks to the developer for give us this function back!

Removed and reinstalled twice, still doesn't work. NEVER should have been removed in the first place. EDIT - works now but still, never should have been removed in the first place.

It makes absolutely no sense that I should install an extension for basic web browser functionality.

Why would the extension suddenly need the permission to read and edit all data on all sites I visit, and also the permission to manage all apps, extensions and themes? The only thing it should do is go back with backspace.
