What's New in 3.0:
==================
* Updated to Manifest V3.
Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.
This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

Remove backspace from chrome is a total nonsense. This extension does what it says by going back properly when you hit backspace, while it is asking for permission to access ALL your web content. Whilst the fact that it is from google.com makes it more trustworthy than personal made, it is like handing your bank credential to a stranger without any protection nor tracking method but only their promise "We won't do anything harmful!". Plus the fact that it is highly possible this may cause future compatibility issues by adding a piece of code to every single page you opened. Having said all that, I still installed this extension and am using it because I prefer not to put both of my hand on keyboard to go back the page.
i don't want extension for basic browser functionality. Maybe disable keyboard at all or stop displaying images and require extension for that too. Why can't you just add this 'feature' to settings as checkbox? Even then breaking functionality without warning would be disgusting.
為什麼還要另外裝擴充功能???? 可以請把Chrome按Backspace的上一頁的功能加回來 再移除掉這個無用的擴充功能嗎 p.s alt + 左鍵 也不好用
Chrome ayarlarına backspace tuşu işe geri girmeyi etkinleştir şeklinde ayar eklense ve bundan kullanıcılar haberdar edilse daha kullanışlı olurdu
Not listening to users? Since when did Google start doing this?
I shouldn't have to install an extension to do this, that's just absurd. Please put this back into Chrome as an option without requiring me to install another extension on every PC I use.
Appreciate the option to re-enable this behavior being offered. Extension does exactly what it says it does.
First, as everyone say, Google should have not changed the behavior of Backspace key. But anyway, this extension solved my problem. 4 stars.
Extension does what it says and works and I will give you guys kudos for making it - other companies would make a sudden update like this without looking back. I understand that people run into the issue of accidentally unselecting the box their typing in and being forced out of the page, but a feature like this shouldn't be removed without warning. It has been standard in browsers (including this one) for years, and many people consistently use it. Chrome needs to display its patch notes more prominently so people know what functionality is being added/removed from the browser. They shouldn't have to hunt around for it. Alt+Left works, but a single key extension is simply faster to hit than a two key combo. This extension should instead be an option within Chrome itself instead of an extension so it is faster to access for all users.
Thank god! lost my mind without the backspace
