This extension will make ChatGPT your default search engine in Chrome. Once ChatGPT has been set as your default search engine, you can search directly via your browser URL bar.
ChatGPT You can get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, which you would have previously needed to go to a search engine for. This blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more. Chats also now include links to sources, such as news articles and blog posts, giving you a way to learn more.
In order to redirect a query to Google search, type "!g [your query]" (e.g. !g foobar) directly in your browser URL bar.

Not really liking this so far. I can see the value in using ChatGPT for searches, but I prefer to keep ChatGPT separate from my general web searches. One thing I like about ChatGPT is the ability to go back to old conversations, but when you start using ChatGPT as your general search engine, your history quickly becomes vast, and revisiting a specific previous chat becomes almost impossible. So, my recommendation is to use the search function within the ChatGPT website/app itself when you want to, but do not bother with this ChatGPT Chrome extension and stick with google or bing or whatever in your browser.
Not a bad idea but I still like searching for things. If I want to know something I normally go to chatgpt if I want the latest news on something I normally Google search. If I want an opinion or to discuss something I tell chatgpt to look something up and we talk about it. Like I said not a bad idea I imagine there's a fair amount of people that will like this.

Very effective and time saving as it could summarize information. The speed at which it's been used also demonstrate how relevant it is. Time is money, so being able of saving time through this is good for me. Thanks to the entire OpenAI team for this;
I love it. It took a few hours for me to get used to it, initially despite it's purpose I'd find myself searching via the address bar and expecting Google serps to show up and slightly annoyed when my expectations weren't met. Now I don't even care, and often look forward to ChatGPT's SERPS. I can't wait until the citations are built into the desktop app along with Canvas, this is the only reason I'm still using the web app, if not I'd use the desktop every time. Side Note: Eduardo mentioned this below but if you prepend !g to a query you'll go straight to Google. so !g 'query'
