This extension replaces the new tab page with a page that aims to remain visually similar to the new tab page but without any Google doodles.
To hide the footer that Chrome adds at the bottom of the New Tab page, click the “Customize Chrome” button and turn off “Show footer on New Tab page.”
NOTE: Personalized and dynamic aspects of the new tab page (such as themes, wallpapers and shortcuts) are not supported.

Was happy with the doodle blockage but losing my shortcuts was the deal breaker. 3 stars because it worked on the doodle, but only 3 because it blocked my shortcuts.
Removes the annoying soccer loop, but also lost my new tab bookmarks.

An absolute lifesaver. This extension acts like a clinical-grade focus filter. The official Google Doodles were a constant source of cognitive distraction every time I opened a new tab. This simple tool completely resected that problem, leaving a clean, distraction-free environment. Excellent intervention. Highly recommended for anyone needing to protect their workflow!

Thank you. Apparently, the prohibition on annoying amateurish animations from the 90s has been lifted? I tried removing the Google Doodle with other Chrome extensions that allow you to add custom CSS, but none of them target the new tab page.
It doesn't work.
Thank you for this! Now I don't get a headache everytime I open a new google tab (with that awful world cup doodle).
Football is everywhere - I really don't need it in on my search page too
