Copy As Plain Text is a lite extension that lets you easily copy any text without formatting to the clipboard via the right-click context-menu item.
Simply browse a website and select a desired text, then right-click and select - Copy as plain text - from the context-menu. The selected text will be copied to the clipboard without any formatting. Alternatively, you can press the toolbar button to copy the plain text to the clipboard.
Please note that, to paste the clipboard you can use (Ctrl + V) or right-click and select - Paste - from the context-menu.

Searched everywhere to try and get a copying from Gemini/ChatGPT to paste without formatting. It used to do this effortlessly, now it adds LaTex everywhere. Don't know what happened or why this isn't more reported? Anyways, this extension resolved it. Thank you
Stopped working. said "copy failed will exceed publishers limit..." Thanks for delaying my studying.
Technically, it works (copies text with all formatting removed). Unfortunately, in doing so, it also removes carriage returns. 😣 That means, when you copy text that is made up of separate lines and/or multiple paragraphs, when you paste it, you get a MASSIVE single block of text instead! Because of this, you then have to waste so much time and energy putting back all the carriage returns to separate the text into lines and paragraphs again. This is far too annoying for me to deal with, so I am uninstalling. I've decided to go with another extension, Copy as Plain Text - Format Cleaner, because that one is capable of retaining carriage returns.
Works on some text but not PDFs with different formats ( designed with Canva specifically).
Needs shortcut key, right click function is an extra steps and mouse motion
It works! Like others, I would like to have a keyboard shortcut for it (shift-ctrl-C maybe?). Ideally, it would be nice if it could (in the browser, not any other context) usurp the normal ctrl-C (or cmd-C on a Mac) operation to and copy without formatting by default, then require a different code like shift-ctrl-C to copy with formatting, since copying with formatting is nearly never actually wanted, but might be in some specialized context. But I can't take away a star for the extension not having a new feature I wish it had. For the feature it is advertised as providing, it provides it perfectly.

This extension is very good but it also removes line breaks so all the text output is in one big section, which is not nice. please add an option to be able to save the line breaks. thanks.
