The EU regulations require that any website using tracking cookies must get user's permission before installing them. Imagine how irritating that becomes when you surf anonymously or if you delete cookies automatically every time you close the browser.
In most cases, it just blocks or hides cookie related pop-ups. When it's needed for the website to work properly, it will automatically accept the cookie policy for you (sometimes it will accept all and sometimes only necessary cookie categories, depending on what's easier to do). It doesn't delete cookies.

Unfortunately the extension got sold to a company that is known for spying on users through extensions. I therefore cannot recommend using it anymore. Instead, use the public fork of this extension, which does not contain tracking and will be maintained open source: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/i-still-dont-care-about-c/edibdbjcniadpccecjdfdjjppcpchdlm
I liked the extension until I discovered that it has a problematic side-effect: The scrolling function in Chrome disappears on some sites.
Schade, habe diese Erweiterung jahrelang verwendet. Durch den Verkauf an Avast nun aber leider für mich komplett unverwendbar geworden.

It did a great job over the years. Unfortunately, it sold out to Avast AND defaulted to a "Give me all the cookies" approach. Selling out was the last straw - I mean, realistically, what would Avast want with this extension, if not gobble up user data of people that normally frowned on that sort of thing? There's no real other money-making potential here that I can see. So long, and thanks for all the -fish- cookies. Switched to Consent-O-Matic instead.
