As of version 4.23 (January 2021), link tracking via the "ping" attribute is disabled by default. This prevents Google from tracking your link clicks. If you want Google to track your link clicks, visit the options page to disable this feature.

Works like a charm! 2016-02-25: It looks like Google is now doing this on sites hosted on sites.google.com as well, but the unwrap isn't working there.
No fault of the developer, but this extension doesn't work anymore due to the way that google have changed their tracking. I think they use javascript now rather than a proxy redirect to track you.

Been searching high and low to remove these redirects from Google search results. Such a pain when Chrome decides to have a blank page with the redirect URL in the back history or when I need to right-click>save as a PDF because it is so slow, and only saving the blank redirect page.
