AudioPick allows to pick a preferred audio output device that is used when a chrome tab is playing HTML5 audio or video over HTTPS.
The extension finds HTML5 audio and video elements within the document tree and manipulates the "sinkId"` in order to switch to the preferred audio output device. Since version 0.3.8 it also finds Audio, Video and AudioContext objects that have not been inserted into the document tree, e. g. Spotify and SoundCloud should now work with the extension, too.
Since it's now possible to store/remember a preferred audio output device per domain, the extension's option panel and hence the option to set a global preferred device (for the browser) has been removed.
Note that the "Media Capture and Streams API" requires media (microphone) permissions to be granted to every site with audio sinks that need to be manipulated, which - as a result - allows those sites to access your microphone. Hence AudioPick only acquires permission when the user actually picks a non-default device for a site and restores permissions when the user reverts back to using the default. Since version 0.3.10 a "smartMicAccess" mode can be activated in the UI which further reduces the number of microphone permissions granted by the extension.

This hardly even works. It keeps outputting to the wrong device. I constantly have to change the device back and forth to get it to work, and then 50% of the time it works for one episode, song or whatever. The other 50% of the time it just crashes the webpage.
I've been waiting something like 15 years for a browser to be able to output to a device other than the system default. Every time I looked the only answer I found was that browsers didn't have the capability to output to different devices so even extensions couldn't achieve what I wanted. It seems that was either incorrect or it was added. Whatever the reason, this extension works amazingly. I was even more shocked that I could have 2 tabs outputting to two different audio devices simultaneously. Great work! Thank you so very much! Note to people that use this: Another useful program I've found is called Sound Lock by 3APPES Ltd. which is "a sound output level limiter for your PC which works with Windows Vista or higher." It will automatically adjust volume of any specific audio device to not go above a manually set threshold. It's especially good for movies with loud explosions and quiet dialog. Just set the threshold just above the speech level and it will dampen anything louder.

Excellent, routes audio to my second monitor
Absolutely love it! I use it with VB-Audio Virtual Audio Cable and VoiceMeeter Banana so that I can play music etc. to my friends without them hearing everything else on my PC.
This is the perfect example of an extension that does what it's supposed to do and does it extremely well. For example: I can set kids' youtube browser window (on secondary monitor) to play on speakers, while I can listen to anything I want on my headphones. Both streams will keep their respective audio devices as well as long as the pages are open. Thank you!
Very useful,thanks :)
Doesn't work, can't select anything but default option.
