I almost gave 5 stars. However, as I have used it, I have had several "wishes" and "huh?" items. I wish that I could sort the list. I have since found that I can select and copy the list to an excel file for sorting. However, the ID #'s aren't there. Please add ID#'s to the list. I wondered if a second search of the same portion of my pedigree would possible add duplicate names on the list. The first time I did it, there were no duplicates that I could find. Since then, I have tried the test again and found several duplicates (assuming the same ID#'s since I can't see them). Please keep it to a single, non-duplicated list, especially since the list is chronological and separates the duplication, making it impossible to notice duplicates. Here are the "huh?" items: I've watched and found that there are several times that even though the green boxes are drawn (either solid or not), the counter doesn't change. There are also times when there is a Green arrow on the name and boxes are not drawn at all. I'll take what I get.... better than nothing! The most concerning item is the counting down that sometimes occurs during a scan. Yep, that's right! Names are being removed from the existing list. I've verified this by the copy/paste in my excel file and finding names that were there, removed. Going to them in Family Search (by knowing both spouses), I've verified ordinances needing to be done. I have no idea why they were taken off the list! So, there seem to be some programming bugs, still. Please address them. By the way, I used to do this exact search method by hand and am just ecstatic that it is now automated. It doesn't remove the need for due diligence in my own efforts to be accurate and complete. But it saves so much time in getting me to where possibilities exist. Thanks so much!

This seems to be something on the right track to find data that is missing without manually doing it. Suggested features: * ability to save search results * ability to specify search criteria (Date range, generations to search, missing ordinances or information to find)

After I installed the Pandora Hope Chest I started getting an error messge in FamilySearch. "There is no guarantee that this information is accurate. It is your responsibility to verify before submitting to the temple. This tool is not intended to be a replacement for diligent and thoughtful genealogical research. You may find this presentation helpful:" I don't like a program that would do something like this.

Found out about this extension in a recent stake conference. It does take a lot of the tedious work out of searching saving much time. When using this extension, just remember that just because it found a match, it may not an automatic name to take to the temple. There is still work that needs to be done such as de-duplication. All other rules still apply before you take the name to the temple.

I agree with Cathy that this product can be very dangerous. The main issue with it in my eyes is the fact that it does not show you how you are related to the individuals it finds, therefore you are cannot possibly be doing the correct research needed to do the temple work. You need to source your line out to each person to ensure you are in fact related. You also need to be sure to check for duplicates!!! This program may seem like an easy way to do your family history but it's really a cheat. Family history takes effort and you are rewarded for it. There are no shortcuts in doing the Lord's work properly.

There are issues with the app, but I really like the fact that it gets me to look at places where there are numerous duplicates of people and where I may have missed children. I use this as a springboard, not a way to just have names to bring. Nothing beats good ole' fashioned detective work. Please source your people, and transfer sources over when you merge. Write notes as to why you merged people (duplicate, etc) and notes as to why you think a person is the right one. Also...please stop randomly deleting people! Unlink them from you, but don't delete them! I have to re-do weeks worth of work in order to reconnect the people someone else deleted.

I'm sorry but after the pop-up with the video link today. I help people on FamilySearch all day and it is really in the way. There is no way to click on Help Others. The extension is always partially blocking. I am having to use Firefox today to even help anyone.

Please be very cautious when using this app. Not because of the app per se, but because of the data in Family Tree. Research shows that easily over 90% of names in Family Tree that appear to need work (green arrows) are duplicates or errors. In other words, when you find someone who apparently needs work (whether using this app or clicking a green arrow) there's a 90% chance that the work would be duplicate or invalid. I will post some actual statistics and supporting information later. But please don't reserve any names without carefully validating relationships and checking for duplicates.

So I ran it up the tree. It found one record that 'might' need temple work. Ran it down the tree and it found more...but it didn't look at any spouses or parents other than the display spouse/parents. This is problematic because I know of at least two places in my tree that I ran it over where there are incorrect connections that jump a generation or two and others where there were children by second and third spouses. Also, There really should be some sort of time or generation limiter available. I don't even want to investigate the people that lived in the 1400s, 1300s, 1200s and earlier. I'm glad that in the tutorial it mentions that the found people 'Appear' to be ready for temple work, but I'm afraid that once people leave the tutorial they will take the green outlines as absolutely available for temple work and forget to investigate further to be sure that the individual has accurate information and truly isn't duplicated somewhere else in the system. I've run into too many duplicates to believe that all of the individuals found are ready for temple work.
