NewsGuard's reliability ratings for news and information sources help users make decisions about which news sources to trust—and avoid misinformation and disinformation.

Our ratings, scores, and Nutrition Labels for websites are displayed next to links on search engines and social media platforms and cover all the news websites accounting for 95% of online engagement.

Ratings are conducted by a team of experienced journalists using nine basic, apolitical journalistic criteria. Each site receives a trust score of 0-100, an overall rating level ranging from “High Credibility” to “Proceed with Caution,” and a thorough Nutrition Label report detailing the site’s ownership and financing, content, credibility practices, transparency practices, and history.

As many others noted, Newsguard is biased. For instance, the New York Times does publish false content, frequently does not gather information responsibly, does not responsibly correct errors, does not always separate opinion from news, and does use deceptive headlines. The examples are legion. Historically we can look its cover-up of the Soviet genocide in Ukraine and the Nazi genocide of Jews. In 2003 Jayson Blair resigned after it came out that he made up news stories. In 2006 the Times put out factually incorrect stories about the Duke lacrosse players who were later exonerated. Writer Alessandra Stanley made frequent errors in her reports. It has political hit pieces disguised as news, such as when it went after Marco Rubio for speeding tickets in 2015, only to have it turn out that almost all of them were his wife's tickets. It turned out that no NYT reporter examined the tickets, but Democratic operatives did. On May 20, 2019, the NYT had a story about the EPA had multiple errors that were changed in updates, but the paper did not publish an official correction. There are too many examples to cite. Even former editor Jill Abramson said its news stories are slanted against Trump. Yet Newsguard gives it a perfect score. Similarly, Newsguard gives a perfect score to corporate giant Washington Post, but smaller (and more conservative) operations Washington Times, Washington Free Beacon, and Washington Examiner don't. Yet, the Washington Post has the same types of bias and other errors the New York Times does. CNN confuses opinion with news daily, yet receives no negative mark for this. Until Newsguard rates large corporate and liberal-Left news sources fairly it will continue to have a problem with credibility.

How do you know if news is guaranteed to be fake? Just look for the “News Guard” shield symbol followed by a check mark and the words “News Guard Rating.” If you’re not pro-war, pro-GMO, and pro-Clinton, your news will be “ranked” and labeled as fake news when given the stamp of the oppressors, who are NeoCon-backed “fact checkers” funded by the most abhorrent journo-terrorists and presstitutes of our time. We’ve already witnessed the total purge of independent media from social media sites, and now we’re seeing the beginning of the end of truth media on the internet. This is an all-out war on independent (Indy) media waged by NewsGuard Technologies, an elite group of shills funded by neo-conservatives, Silicon Valley, and the immensely corrupt deep state of the U.S. government. These news hucksters put their “fake news” filter in full gear just after crooked Hillary lost the 2016 election in an effort to silence anyone who speaks out against the useless wars in the Middle East, vaccines, genetically modified food, pharmaceutical medications, mainstream lying media, or Leftist-ruled libtard social media.
