Automatically change YouTube video quality to HD resolution or the highest available one
Automatic YouTube video quality & resolution selector: Auto 4K, 8K, HD playback settings.
Chrome extension that fixes the video quality to the highest available on YouTube.
This extension is powerful tool that will let you play all videos in HD and change video player size automatically.
still 100% works, update your browser if your having issues. also maybe stop using chrome and use opera gx or firefox, chrome is getting worse with all video resolution and its constantly showing square outlines like the bitrate is getting even worse, opera has a built in resolution upscaler and firefox has better video quality over chrome in general
This is really good and still useful in 2023 heading into 2024. If you have YouTube Premium, It will automatically go into the "enhanced bitrate" version of it if available. So if you set it to 1080p, it will immediately go to 1080p enhanced bitrate.
It does the job, but it would be preferable if there was an option to change the resolution while watching.
I thought this extension was working well until it started breaking other websites. For some reason it broke access to forums.unrealengine.com/ by placing this tag full screen on the page blocking all clicks: <img class="preloader-image" src="data:image/svg;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" alt="Epic Developer Community Forums"> If I either disable the extension or limit it to https://*.youtube.com/* that immediately fixes the issue. Seems it has a bug. I confirmed that with only this extension installed and site access set to all sites this always causes the issue.
Works for me but breaks functionality of Dicourse based software forums. IF addon is installed and You visit discourse based forum the site will break after You log in. Links will stop working, scrolling will stop working.
Расширение замечательное, но хотелось бы чтобы автоматически ставило 1080p Bitrate, вместо простого 1080p
It does not work for me, it does not automatically adjust the video quality to hd oder fhd. Very disappointed.
TL;DR this extension works as described. I have none of the issues described in any of the reviews left here, so I'm left to assume they're all bots. This plugin is not malicious. It is written in mostly javascript, and any child with a light understanding of JS could tell you that it's not doing anything malicious. There is no PHP in this extension. That's not how extensions work. PHP requires a webserver running a PHP executor to work. Your browser is not that. I also have not found any part of the extension that injects code from other sources -- which would be a violation of Google's Chrome Web Store guidelines. The worst thing this extension does is track the URL of the YT videos you visit. That's it. It'd be nice to be able to opt-out of that (thus I'm deducting a star from the review). As for those claiming the extension breaks other websites, that's likely unintentional. The extension is written to look for YT video elements and modify them as described. It is up to you, the end-user, to limit the extension's access to only https://www.youtube.com in your browser's extension management settings.
There is a bug in the extension that causes navigation errors on some sites, such as community(dot)sonarsource(dot)com, the error is generated when entering the site, and it appears that some script is being prevented from being accessed/loaded due to the site's content policies (HTTP header: Content-Security-Policy). I need to disable the extension to be able to browse the site correctly. The same happens on other sites with the contenty security policy header as well, maybe a bypass can handle this or maybe disable the extension automatically if detect the presence of HTTP header Content-Security-Policy on the tab (document).
Plugin works perfect on Youtube but it breaks forum type website + inject tracker
