UPDATE 2019/08/21: This extension is completely broken, and Google hasn't updated it in 3 years. Such a shame they've abandoned this extremely useful tool. I can't live without this tool, especially after becoming dependent upon the built-in functionality iOS has similar to this. (Long press a word to select > Define).

User installs extension and optionally configures language/preferences in options page. While browsing any website, double-clicking a word triggers a content script that sends the word to the background service worker, which fetches the definition from Google's dictionary API (dictionaryextension-pa.googleapis.com) and displays it in a pop-up bubble. The toolbar popup also allows manual word lookup. If enabled, looked-up words are stored locally in chrome.storage for later review.
