So far this extension has been great - easy instant access to definitions without leaving the page. There are other dictionary options but they open the def in a different page which interrupts the flow. One thing I think is key is the definition engine seems to be context aware. For example I called up the definition for the acronym "HUD" and was pleasantly surprised. Normally "HUD" would stand for something like "Heads up Display" but, since I was reading an article on Real Estate, the definition came back as "Housing and Urban Development" which was correct! It may have been a fluke, but it happened repeatedly on other context-sensitive definitions. The "phrase definition" is also extremely useful for making sure the definition fits the actual usage. Overall I am extremely happy with this extension. EDIT: This plugin is definitely NOT content-aware; a feature I feel would add a lot of power to it. Also it treats capital letters, typically indicating an acronym, as normal. HML doesn't define as "Hard Money Lender" it comes in as some greek part of speech. (Note: I am only using it for English.)
Why isn't Arabic included ?
Really awesome!
a cool extension for readers. i like it. but i wonder why this dictionary gives only the meanings related to computer environment.. for example: ag·gre·ga·tor An Internet company that collects information about competing products and services and distributes it through a single website but if a person would like to know the common meaning of aggregator this dictionary fails... i hope google professionals will answer for this.. thx.
it z vry useful. bt not in reach 2 many z my opine. cool gadget nd avoids installation of some useless soft-wares.
Preciso do dicionário em Português. Grato pela atenção
Nice Extention very handy to look up a word wid double click... stops working sometimes u have to disable and re-enable it.... overall nice....
it just stopped working. reinstal doesn't help. it worked fine for couple of days ans then started showing searching instead of definition.
Very nice. But please try to also cover text that may be generated by other extensions. e.g. the iReader extension strips all ads and side-column material and produces a clean overlay of the main article text. But Google Dictionary double-click does not work on that. Thanks!!
This extension is breaking the "Empty Spam" feature in the new GMail look on my Google Apps account.
