excellent!!!
What happened? It doesn't work any more
This extension was awesome until it stopped working about a week ago. Now all I get is a grayed out icon with a question mark. I tried restarting, uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing my preferences, and nothing gets it to work. It's a real bummer because if you keep Gmail in a pinned tab, you have no way of knowing if you have new mail or not without this extension working.

This extension does exactly what you need it to. One thing that could be improved is a refresh script that will update unread emails. I noticed you have to relaunch chrome for the extension to check for emails. Cheers!
It's not always working for some reason.
don't work
Flaws: - You have to click the extensions button to get it to work after starting Chrome.. - Takes way too long for it to recognize new mail (up to 10 min) - Unread mail counter is not reset quickly after you read the mail - Does not use the already opened Gmail (pinned) tab when clicking it, but instead opens a new one.. Fix this!
