I've been using this extension for years. I originally found it after seeing the "PrintFriendly" icon in use on a webpage. For many webpages with tons of advertising junk, the browser print (create pdf) option isn't very useful to create a nicely formatted document with the text. PrintFriendly excludes all the extraneous garbage. Instead of headers and footers, at the top of the document, it shows the site URL and Title. You can reduce the size of the photos if you want (especially if you are printing in color). You can scroll through the PrintFriendly PDF preview and delete photos or chunks of text. At the end of the document, that's when I sometimes delete extra text, especially if I am saving an article and I just want to save the content of the article. If the webpage is long, the PrintFriendly version is usually many pages shorter than just printing from the browser (to create a PDF). I'd say 90% of the time, I am extremely happy with the pdf created by PrintFriendly. Occasionally (~10%) of the time, it doesn't capture all of the text that I want. The links/URLs in the PrintFriendly pdf still work (compared to just printing the webpage to a PDF file). On certain sites that really try to block you from saving/printing the page, I use a screen capture to PDF extension (Nimbus & Fireshot are my 2 favorite screenshot extensions). I also use the extension called "Extensity" in order to turn certain extensions on and off. I'd say I use this extension several days per week. I like to save the TOS/Privacy Policy to a PDF file for any site where I need to agree to the TOS. I use PrintFriendly 99% of the time to save the TOS. If you have a website, consider adding the PrintFriendly icon to your site (see the extension's website, https://www.printfriendly.com, for info on how to do that). I just did a little test. When I saved a webpage to PDF with PrintFriendly, chrome & IE, the filesize for Chrome was over twice as large & IE was over three times as large as the PF filesize. I highly recommend installing the PrintFriendly Chrome extension for anyone who ever creates a PDF file from a webpage. This is one of the good ones!
Really good but recently it's "skipping rows" (as in not showing, but just some rows) from data tables which makes it more or less useless whenever you have such tables you want to print.
Does the job but SO PERFECTLY YOU JUST LOVE IT!
I cannot say enough good things about this extension. It's GREAT!!! If you have OCD tendencies and like neat, uncluttered downloads this extension is a must-have. There are extensive formatting options available but even small details such as retaining the original URL in the document and default naming of the download-file(s) are well thought out. Bravo!
