The controls also block your view, which can get really annoying. Hyde is a simple Chrome extension that allows you to hide or show the video player controls easily.

Works for brave as of 28 June, 2026. Go to "brave://extensions/shortcuts" (without the ") and set the shortcut to Ctrl + K (or something) since Ctrl + M would mute the tab.

Doesn't work for streams. Would be very good if it worked not only on pause - because it's very annoying when you just move a mouse in full screen video and controls show up again.

Great extension, works as extended. In case yours stopped working go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts, find hyde and set the shortcut to Ctrl + M again (or whatever you want).

Doesn't hide the thing which is the most annoying - the play/stop icon that appears after pressing space in the center of the screen!!
