When you pause a YouTube video, the player controls don't disappear. That makes it really hard to take a clean screenshot of the video. The controls also block your view, which can get really annoying. Hyde is a simple Chrome extension that allows you to hide or show the video player controls easily.
⭐ Simply use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+M to hide the controls or show them again. ⭐

great
does not work on Brave browser, everytime I click ctrl + m it only mutes the video without the volume icon indicating its muted ( like the slash on the volume icon indicating its muted)
The extension doesn't work for me, it doesn't hide the progress bar
Awesome. Works like a charm!
I love these extensions which is very simple but is very useful, tens of videos I watch have some text in top or bottom of the video and I cannot read it unless exiting fullscreen mode, playing the video in the native mode or by taking a screenshot
10/10 Love your work
It works perfectly :)
If anyone is using this in Edge where CTRL+M mutes the tab, change the key in Manage Extension > Keyboard Shortcuts on the left (or just copy this address "edge://extensions/shortcuts") and in the Hyde extension under "hide/show controls" type in a new shortcut such as ALT + M. Works for me.
Tried on Edge, doesn't work since Ctrl+M is already used (for muting the current tab).
I love the extension, it's a great productivity tool. A few suggestions to the developer: - settings options to switch the keyboard shortcut between a few different options. I use Control+M for Google Slides to create a new slide and it's impossible to use it combined with the extension. - toggle button to enable / disable the extension or how offer to narrow down the keyboard monitoring to youtube.com only.
