This extension keeps a single pinned page to prevent closing Chrome when the last tab of the last window is closed (or every window, it's configurable). To keep the tab bar clean (unlike other extensions), the pinned page is inserted only when absolutely necessary. It also handles well cases when tabs are moved between windows.
"Don't Close Window With Last Tab" provides no user interface or interaction for users. It only lets users configure additional configuration in "Options".

Works perfectly. Prevents Chrome shutting down. Default option is best imo.

It's sad and frustrating that it takes a brute kludge to make Chrome's close-tab button behave like a close-tab button. This extension is the simplest, cleanest and most reliable I've tried. Kudos.

Not sure why people are saying this works, because it doesn't I opened up a new tab and closed out and it still let me close out without a prompt or anything.
This is the best extension I can find for this purpose. The only thing is that it changes the last closed tab with closing the pinned tab, so "reopen closed tab" would not work. Maybe add an option to let the pinned tab stay open?
This extension is almost perfect. Please add an option to keep open last regular and last incognito window simultaneously. With multiple regular and incognito windows I find myself closing last regular or last incognito window sometimes.
Cause conflict with my other extension, uninstall it and use LAST TAB then everything is fine
Prevents you from accidentally closing the whole browser when you close your tabs.
