I am eternally grateful to have this functionality back. I am, however, appalled you would remove it in the first place. Google, you've made a great browser but you have to respect the use patterns of millions of users. You can't just ignore standard functionality because a select few disregard the warnings they get when they try to navigate away from a page with context entered. I am 100% sure this isn't a developer decision because no sane dev would ever make this suggestion.

I hate having to install this, major failure by Google/Chrome team, they removed a shortcut literally everyone has used forever and fixed it with an extension. They keep pushing the reason about losing form/text data, but Chrome already saves that data AND GIVES YOU A POPUP WARNING YOU. How could that not have been enough? This is so redundant. Next up, change spacebar when pausing videos because it adds unintended spaces to my comments /sarcasm.

I can understand the hard decision to change age-old behaviour to prevent data-loss with some users. It's interesting to see how unique the "ALT <-" mechanic remains with Ubuntu moving forward with "CTRL ALT <-" et al shortcuts for its window manager. Would have been a lot happier with a setting in Chrome, but that wasn't allowed. So an extension it is - thanks for creating it!

Google doing a forced migration on a function that has been around for over a decade is poor user experience. The ALT+arrow should have been presented as an enhancement and people could OPT-IN to it. Clearly 68,541 other users (as of this posting) agree that Backspace should remain tied to the Back function. This should not need to be an extension. The extension should be to DISABLE backspace from going back.

The extension itself is okay but this change to disable backspace is stupid to unprecedented levels. A feature present in browsers for as long as I can remember removed just like that. But ok let's assume this change is so crucial that it absolutely needed to happen. But why not an option in the settings, why not at least a flag in chrome://flags, an extension of all things? This is ridiculous.

dear google.. dont make mistakes make improvements, at no point was i warned that my methods have been thrown out the window. had i been even more impulsive i would have opped out for a new browser entirely had i not looked for a mod that does just this. all you guys have been doing is adding to the long list of problems and this never should have been one of them. i merely leave this as a five star for people to see this mod, and i will be leaving as a sutable contender for youtube comes up good by and good ridance.

The fact that there is even a need for this extension is mind-boggling. It should be the default behavior. If not, then there should be a setting, or a means of customizing keys. The extension does not exactly restore the previous behavior either. Backspace presses are no longer treated as such in Flash objects, but navigate back instead, which is infinitely more annoying than the "problem" that changing the backspace behavior was intended to fix. I'm going back to Firefox.

So sad that this needs to be "the solution" to a stupid decision. Why isn't navigating with backspace a flag in Chrome?
