Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.
What's New in 3.0:
==================
* Updated to Manifest V3.
Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.
This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

Completely ridiculous that we now need an extension to do what has always worked. Are you kidding? And the replacement is now 2 keys? This extension was only made to cover for poor decisions on the Chrome team.
First off, this extension works fine so if you need your much-used Backspace shortcut, install it. This gets 1 star because it was made BY GOOGLE to fix an issue they arbitrarily created, using some presumably injected Javascript code into every webpage, when Chrome =<51 worked perfectly with backspace shortcuts built in. This should've been solved by a Chrome flag in 53. This is idiotic. Free idea for Google by the way: If there's a form that has text in it on a page, and you hit Backspace, maybe send up a prompt asking if you want to leave the page, as opposed to removing a decades old shortcut everyone who uses a computer efficiently has used. So much better.
Did you really need to remove this... That and the delete option in the dropdown. Surely you have the RAM?
While I appreciate getting this functionality back, I should not have to install an extension to get STANDARD browser behavior that I've used for years. Google apparently thinks that very few people use it. Not so.
Thanks for bringing this back.
thank you for this simple solution to the Alt+Left issue
WHY?????? Why would you do this? Since prehistory backspace navigates back, so why remove it now when it's become a reflex for many? At least it works... sorta.
Extension works well, but it's a shame that google had to make this extension AFTER REMOVING THE FUNCTIONALITY! It beggars belief that google removed it in the first place!
Give us the browser's standard functionality back. I don't want to use this extension.
The fact that an extension is needed to bring back this industry-standard behavior is beyond stupid. I don't usually leave reviews on anything but this is whole backspace affair is absurd... Seriously Google, what the hell?
