In web design you always have the stakeholder that says, "Well, we need to add this arbitrary feature so that we protect the users from themselves." To which I always reply, "They will only make this mistake once, and then they will have learned not to do that." If Google had enough loud voices complaining that they lost data in a web page that they spent the time to remove a LITERAL industry standard from their own browser (seriously, go check out EVERY other browser) then I can understand the effort to code something so moronic. But I'm betting that every engineer at Google was thinking that this was a foolish move. My guess is that it was some top boss that whined like a baby that they lost some data on a web page (why is this idiot working at a WEB GIANT?!) and forced this to happen. "Doctor, doctor! It hurts when I go like this!" "Well then don't go like this!" Sure the extension does what it says but I'm giving one star because WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU EVEN DOING OMG I'M SHOUTING!!! How is this even an answer? Just put this option back in Chrome instead of an extension. A WHOLE EXTENSION for this "feature?" Why even remove a function that is baked into EVERY OTHER BROWSER SINCE FOREVER OMG I'M SHOUTING AGAIN!!! Brave move Google. Removing features blindly is going to kill your brand loyalty. This is just another in a long line of decisions that leave your users' mouths agape...smh EDIT: Initial review was from Aug 17, 2016. Now it's Feb 17, 2026. This is STILL an extension that needs to exist?....smh, unreal.

Need the key behaviour baked into the browser, not as a slow intrusive extension. Better an extension from google than an extension from an unknown so 2 stars. The fact that google removed it -1 star.

これ入れなくてもいい方法があるようです。(windows版のみ?後々できなくなりそう) ショートカットの後ろに --enable-blink-features=BackspaceDefaultHandler --test-type を追加するだけ。

most people would not find this and would think their backspace is broken. this is not the right solution at all. backspace navigation should be restored as default. people who would like to disable backspace navigation should install an extension instead.

Thanks for this, I guess. Sucks that you didn't just hide it in chrome://flags or something. BTW (for those wondering) it won't start working until you reload whatever pages were open when you first installed it.

Es muy practica para una navegación rápida, desde que instale chrome este traía esa funcionalidad, pero en algún momento desapareció y me di cuenta de lo incomodo que es usar el botón "atrás", así que gracias por esta extensión.
