Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.
What's New in 3.0:

* Updated to Manifest V3.
Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.
This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

It doesn't know when you're in a text box so every time I used backspace to actually backspace it would take me back to the previous page.
Thank god I can go back with the BACKspace again. It was such a mess having to use a two button shortcut to go back a page with the latest Chrome update.

I want this function back in chrome - not as an extension!
The plugin works as expected and brought the browser back up to par with the level of UX / usability is had before this issue was introduce. The 2 reasons I didn't give it 5 stars is because... 1) I had to restart all of by browser windows before it took effect. 2) The standard of using shift to reverse the direction of a command (shift-backspace) does not work. Shift+Tab goes backward, why prevent it with backspace?
And why exactly does it need more permissions? First you take out this feature, and now you want more info too?
shouldn't be needed but some google (insert string of foul terms here) fool decided to take out a standard and be strange for goodness knows what reason. this should be the default behavior of a browser not a band-aid to cover a glaring error in decision making. i could live with an option (even if defaulted to disable the key) but to require an edit to the pages code to handle this is nearing on barbaric.
Why would you ever remove something this useful??
A band-aid solution. I shouldn't have to install an extension to provide a standard behaviour that's existed in pretty much all web browsers. I had only 2 extensions installed and enabled, and now I have to have 3. Thanks for nothing.
