This eye-care extension enables night mode by creating dark themes for websites on the fly. Dark Reader inverts bright colours to make web pages high contrast and easier to read.

Adjust brightness, contrast, the sepia filter, font preferences. Enable dark mode on every web page or give websites a sepia tone. Enable or disable Dark Reader for specific websites, automatically sync with system dark mode, or detect already dark websites and leave them unchanged.

This is the original Dark Reader extension. Since 2014, we continuously evolve alongside modern web technologies to deliver fast and reliable dark mode support for people sensitive to bright light.

Recent update has messed up localhost, it doesn't turn off on localhost with the website toggle unless turned off completely.

Dark Reader continues to be the most reliable and most customizable extension I've come across in the current era of options for reformatting and transforming modern internet browsers. It works consistently across both Windows 10/11 and Mac OSs — from what I can remember, at least Sequoia, Sonoma, Ventura, Monterey, probably Big Sur as well... — and rarely, truly rarely, experiences issues with formatting a website correctly and efficiently. This team has done an outstanding job properly maintaining an extension for years, keeping pace with the frequency of updates and upgrades the present-day internet takes on. Thank you for helping us nightwalkers and browsers-of-the-night reduce the number of light-display-jumpscares we experience at 3:00 AM. xD
