Love this extension! Have used it for years
It's nice when it works, but it's always been pretty wonky, and it's honestly been getting worse with time. Whitelisting sites for just the current session instead of permanently has never worked, and it has always been pretty random in what tabs it chooses to discard. It constantly will immediately discard a tab as soon as I switch away from it. Repeatedly. While I'm switching back and forth. But for the last month or so it's started even discarding the tab that I'm on at the time. Seriously, I will be reading something, and suddenly the page disappears. Today's instance really takes the cake though. I was on a YouTube tab, a video was playing, and I was writing a comment. That's 3 reasons at once that it shouldn't have discarded the tab, but it did it anyway. It's one step short of crashing the browser. Actually, it might as well just be that.
i use opera GX and in it there is no function to turn off tab snooze when you havent gone back to the tab for a few minutes and I find it really annoying on sites like youtube so i have it on a permanent whitelist so it never snoozes itself and this extension works for that
nice :) And all tabs are safe even if addon is crashing or disabled :) Missing: - by deactivating a tab it has to jump not only to the left tab but to the last active, or nothing. - option to reactivate tab only by click into the window not always by choosing the tab. - ATD should not only accept Hostnames in the Whitelist but alos exakt URLs.
Have been using this extension for several months and I really like it. Chrome is *much* friendlier on my workstation. Am not a sysadmin, programmer, etc, but I do have reasonable geek chops. Most of my need is to have around 100 tabs queued across windows so I can move from one project to another, but with only a small number of tabs (such as a specific subset of GMail or LinkedIn URLs) remaining active at all times. The tool is nicely configurable, and I particularly appreciate how the Exceptions supports regular expressions. Thx much!
Please add support for Arc browser. Some tabs are discarded even when active, and pinned tabs are also discarded
Does what it says on the tin and saves me what would otherwise be 15 gigs of RAM down the toilet. Keeps Chrome from turning my 5600X into its chew toy. Browser no longer hangs into oblivion when I load up my 3200 tabs on startup (*1/3 is Japanese vocab...).
Depending on your needs/wants if using Google Chrome, you may not need this extension anymore, and it could conflict if you don't disable chrome's new memory saver. Recent versions of Chrome/Chromium have a memory saver feature now that users can toggle and set some rules on: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/12929150?visit_id=638143379493077833-2992852545&p=chrome_memory_saver&rd=1#memory_saver&zippy=%2Cturn-memory-saver-on-or-off
