So Google is killing Google Hangouts which integrated with Voice without any trouble. I installed the Google Voice app on my browser expecting maybe a similar window, with the belief that maybe it's been modernized to at least have similar features to Google Hangouts. Nope - It's a tiny popup that lets you call someone or use a hyperlink to the Google Voice page.

I WAS using Goggle Hangouts extension to make and receive calls, but of course Google chose to castrate it. Now I have to use this sorry excuse for an "extension" which merely opens the web page, NO NOTIFICATION in the taskbar (browser or OS), and NO RING on incoming calls! Absolutely NOT WORTH the increased background CPU usage. USELESS.

Ugh, what a dismal, featureless nothing. I can't do anything in this. For the first time in almost—what, 20 years?—I'm thinking it's time to abandon my Google Voice number. Any convenience that has ever been offered has been stripped away, for reasons I don't understand. I can't have a desktop app to text from, I can't use Hangouts, I can't have even the functionality that I once had with the extension 10 years ago. Why?! Why are you making everything so useless? For the first time ever I'm thinking of switching to Apple. And that's icky.

I was forced to switch to this extension from the Hangouts extension, because Google decided to kill Hangouts ability to send/receive SMS/MMS around April 1st. I liked the Hangouts extension because I could have a separate window I could pop out just for text messages, and it stayed even with the browser closed. This extension doesn't seem to have any messaging functionality whatsoever.

Unlike hangouts, you can't copy/paste images. The PC app only lets you call, you have to use your browser to text, which the old hangouts app could do. Less features but the change is forced on us.

Oh, wow. This is a really really bad extension. It looks like it was made 10 years ago and never updated. They pushed us off of Hangouts, which had a decent extension, and now we're left with this?? Come on Google, you're making this so much harder than it needs to be. Someone over there didn't think the Google Voice extension needed an update before discontinuing Hangouts and pushing us all over here?? Honestly, a quick lift from the Hangouts extension, with Google Voice running things under the hood, would have been fine. Obviously we need a way to text people from the extension! Not even that? This is worse than just having GV open in a tab! Ouch guys. This is bad.

Boo, this extension is basically just a glorified bookmark. It needs a complete overhaul if we're expected to be using this instead of the superior (now discontinued) Hangouts extension. The last time this was updated was 2010, that's super embarrassing saying this is all we have to use now...

Most of us use Google Voice with text messages. Hangouts is removing it, so I need an app to text with on my PC. This isn't it.
