- 目标用户
- Chromebook owners needing OS recovery / Users installing ChromeOS Flex on non-Chromebook hardware / IT administrators managing ChromeOS devices / OnHub router owners needing firmware recovery / Google Meet Hardware administrators
- The compiled AngularJS app (app_compiled-bundle.js at 5.5MB) is too large to fully inspect, but core workflow is well-documented through locale strings and HTML templates
- Analytics tracking to google-analytics.com is present but does not affect login or paid features assessment

This is a free Google utility tool with no payment, subscription, premium tier, or billing code. All 'pro' keyword matches are false positives hitting 'process', 'product', 'procedure' in localization strings (e.g., 'Select a product', 'recovery process'). The 'billed' match is a false positive hitting Danish 'afbrudt' (interrupted). No payment platforms, no upgrade UI, no license checks.

- The extension is a standalone local utility that uses Chrome's native APIs (chromeosInfoPrivate, imageWriterPrivate, fileSystem) to create recovery media. The workflow (select device → select target drive → write image) requires no authentication. All keyword matches for 'auth', 'session', 'token', 'userid' are false positives from Closure Library license text (AUTHORS), analytics session tracking, and autocomplete UI code tokens—not actual login flows.
doesn't work at all... can't even download it..
Io lo usato per creare 1 chiavetta ma non sono riuscito ad installarlo su un acer windows 7 con 1,00 gb di ram
not working after 4 hours
No Linux support. Pretty damn dumb when Chrome is built on Linux.
I had to restart the process, allow it to explicitly erase the USB stick (I had already formatted it but allowing this tool to do it erased the partitions too), and then try a second time. That time it worked... but ChromeFlex really needs a pretty fast USB storage device to work or you end up with critical errors that cause it to go into a "Powerwash" cycle. This extension can be used to create a USB disk that will act as an installer, but even though you're supposed to be able to try it out just running from any USB with >8GB of space, trying it out that way didn't work. A better way to approach it is to allow Windows to create restore media (so you can at least get Windows back if things don't go well), and then install ChromeOS Flex from the USB. I almost gave it 3 stars because it does eventually work, but had to give it 2 because you need to know what you're doing.
only works on ChromeOS, MS Windows, and MacOS...need a solution for Linux.
Best OS Ever!!!!
Great way to resuscitate a Windows 10 PC if Microsoft won't allow Windows 11 on it. Rated 4 stars instead of 5 because Google won't let you download a standard ISO file, or at least let the Chromebook Recovery Utility work on Linux.
great tool to setup chromeOS on a pc. good job on the recovery tool can be used to flash Flex onto a windows or linux pc or Mac. Just choose flex as ur device in the device list and boom chromebox on steroids. i dont understand why the rating is so low maybe you should DYOR before judging this guys its a great tool. if it fails you need to check the configuration of the pc and the drive it has to be able to read and write or it will fail you have to give it admin privileges or it cant do what it is designed for also check for a little sorta clear colored plastic "door" a little switch on the drive it is a lock to where a pc cant read or write to the disk make sure it is set to unlocked position not all but some drives have them
hmm, als je denkt dat niets werkt, gewoon geduld oefenen. Duurt minstens 15 minuten op een oude usb 2.0 stick. Na het lunchen zal het wel klaar zijn...
