Try h264ify if YouTube videos stutter, take up too much CPU, eat battery life, or make your laptop hot.
By default, YouTube streams VP8/VP9 encoded video. However, this can cause problems with less powerful machines because VP8/VP9 is not typically hardware accelerated.
In contrast, H.264 is commonly hardware accelerated by GPUs, which usually means smoother video playback and reduced CPU usage. h264ify makes YouTube stream H.264 videos instead of VP8/VP9 videos.
Note: 4K and 1440p videos will not be available because YouTube no longer encodes those videos in H.264

Fixed annoying buffering of videos for me.
Work perfectly. Cpu temperature drop significantly, from average 80ºC to 60ºC, during watching 480p resolution on old Intel core i5 laptop
Раньше работало. Сейчас такое ощущение, что совершенно не работает. Хоть и в информации для сисадминов указывается, что видео работает на кодеке avc1, производительности теперь это не даёт от слова "совсем". Нагрузка на процессор и видеокарту относительно небольшая, но фризы при условной прокрутке, когда в видимом спектре находится сам плеер — достаточно мощные.
I have a 3070 graphics card and an i7 12700k processor. when watching videos on YouTube, the processor was heavily loaded, even though I turned on or off hardware acceleration. using extension, the processor finally stopped warming up and running water cooling at full power!
Для ютуба не проверял но для google meet все работает отлично, м3 перестал греться и видео фризится спасибо!
