I have used the various reference managers over the years, with Endnote and Papers on Mac being my prefered. However, since starting to collaborate on GDrive as well as moving generally towards cloud-based, nothing has come close to Paperpile. Paperpile is the best solution for anyone moving toward cloud-based tools. Furthermore, it seamlessly integrates with GDrive.

It's really everything I wanted from a reference manager in the cloud. I have used it for several papers now, and the integration with google scholar and gdocs really works seamlessly.

Finally a reference manger for GDocs! We waited so long. - Taps into a huge database of reference styles that include pretty much any journal (more complete than Mendeley). Also allows to use personally modified styles - killer feature! - collects PDFs with proper naming pattern in your GDrive - easy drag and drop of PDFs with automatic recognition as popularized in "Papers" on the Mac

I used to use Papers on the Mac, but I wanted a cloud-based solution that would run on Mac, Windows, and ChromeOS. It was also important to me that I can access my library (metadata AND full text) on all my devices. Paperpile fit the bill PERFECTLY. I have been using it for several years, since it was in beta, and it is awesome at keeping track of my research, storing all my PDFs in Google Drive, and letting me search my papers when writing. Cite-as-you-write integration with Google Docs is a big plus! The recently-added metapdf annotations engine makes the experience complete.

seemless integration within Pubmed and Google scholar with automatic importing of pdfs is tremendously useful. simple tagging and organising of papers within Chrome and the ability to easily insert and format refs in GDocs is also very easy and simple to use. Great stuff.

Greatly enjoy this extension. Getting papers is fast. Tagging and organizing is simple and quick. Citing for papers and exporting to a .bib file is no problem. Storage of PDFs on Drive is very handy and makes my life easy as all papers in one place and easily available. Very happy with it thus far. Had tried Mendeley, Zotero, Endnote and Papers before but like this much better.

Paperpile is pretty awesome. Features that I really enjoy: 1. the slick interface: pleasant and beautiful, but at the same time functional and not in your way 2. Auto add paper within the browser. This is a very nice feature, 'cause I tend to find the paper online and in one click it's on my library. 3. GDrive integration for automatic sync on different devices. If you are looking for a PDF Manager, to make sense of the pile of papers you've got on your desk and to not get overwhelmed, give Paperpile a go.
