Can anyone help me, i'm not able to sign in Mendeley
The extension always needs a login, and the login process takes a long time! it is not helpful anymore
This extension is not working perfectly however, I have found a few workarounds to make it usable. 1. To use it for the first time, ensure that you are logged in on https://www.mendeley.com/. Otherwise the extension might not load properly. Once the extension opens, you will be prompted to login again and it will be kept logged in for sometime. 2. I use this extension primarily to save pdfs from https://arxiv.org/. It works 99% of the time when I do the following: i) Start from either the main page for the paper (e.g. https://arxiv.org/abs/1706.03762) or its pdf link (e.g. https://arxiv.org/pdf/1706.03762.pdf) ii) Click on the extension button, it will take around 10-30s to load, depending on the number of pages. Be patient!!! iii) Be sure when the extension loads, make sure you see "view pdf" (Very important), then click ADD to your library of choice. If "view pdf" is not seen, then only the title will be imported to Mendeley but not the pdf. iv) If "view pdf" can't be seen, you will see only a link like (https://arxiv.org/pdf/1706.03762.pdf). When this happens, you need to refresh the page or open the link in a new tab, until it "view pdf" can be seen. Try both the arvix and the pdf page. Once you seen "view pdf", it is then safe to click ADD. v) If added successfully, two ticks will be seen, one for Pdf and one for Reference vi) From my experience 95% of the time, it "view pdf" can be seen in one try, but sometimes it takes a few more tries. vii) Overall it is slow, but still more convenient than manually download and uploading. Usually I do it for multiple pdfs at a go to save time. 3) Note that this importer does not work on sites with paid subscriptions like IEEE. On other sites other than arxiv are hit and miss unfortunately. Hope this helps.
Fails to open when pressed! Shame as I have used this for many years but now it is just redundant. Disappointing
When I click sign in for the 1st time I am using Mendeley Web Importer. It doesn't work. Please repair it.
WHY WHY WHY i cant use the importer!
Sorry, but as much as I like Mendeley, this extension is abysmal, especially compared to Zotero one. Clicking the extension icon means that first it has to load. For reasons unknown, it takes anywhere between 2 and 10 seconds, after which it may or may not find the article that is open now (right in this tab!), after which the box to add the article might be in need of manual checking. Meanwhile, the extension may or may not have detected a PDF (which is weird: it is open right here in this tab (also the extension seems to fail starting on opened PDF files)). It may also take anywhere up to 30 seconds. After that, clicking the button to add to the library results in another loading ranging from seconds to tens of seconds (it seems to upload the pdf to the cloud, rather than local library or direct access to the file that is already stored on Elsevier/Mendeley servers (talk about waste of storage space)). After suffering this convoluted way of storing a file, which seems to be hardly faster than Ctrl+S'ing the paper into the local Mendeley folder, the extension brings a final surprise: it stops responding completely unless the browser is restarted (along with probably losing some temp files needed for my article-search dive).
Doesn't work.
