When you install Scholar Reader, PDFs on all sites will have a new look in Chrome. To make this happen, Chrome will ask for permissions to read and change data on all sites. Scholar Reader makes no changes other than the presentation of PDFs.

• Preview references as you read. Click the in-text citation to see a summary and find the PDF.

• Read faster with the AI outline. Get a quick overview and click on interesting bullets to jump within the paper.

• Highlight and comment on PDFs. Highlights are saved to your Scholar library.

• Make it right for your eyes with light, dark, and night modes.

• Copy and paste common citation formats without leaving the paper.

I love the concept, but I find it annoying after saving the pdf to my library. Because I use my library and school resources to read PDFs, opening my documents can become problematic due to logon issues. Another problem is highlights. You cannot export or print any pdf document with highlights, thus I lose my notes if I try to read in another tool. I think there is still much work to be done compared to Adobe PDF Reader.

a stupid design that could read two pages at once, only a column list pages. Even the default PDF reader could watch two pages in a row.

Very useful functionalities for research rats ! highly recommend Being able to share the commented/highlighted PDF's to other people with the extension would be a very helpful addition. EDIT: The embedded references are very helpful, but when you click on the link to go to another paper, and then come back to your paper, the links don't work anymore even after refreshing (at least for me). Fixing this would be nice!

Academic paper reading is inefficient - researchers must switch between tools to view references, find figures, create citations, and take notes. This extension streamlines the entire paper reading workflow within Chrome's PDF viewer.

User opens any PDF in Chrome → extension replaces default PDF viewer with Scholar Reader → user reads with enhanced features: click citations to preview references, skim AI outline, navigate sections, highlight text, copy citations, toggle dark mode → optionally sign in to Google to sync highlights and save to Scholar Library.
