High Contrast lets you browse the web with your choice of several high-contrast color filters designed to make it easier to read text.
When you install this extension, all pages are "inverted", so black becomes white and white becomes black. Press the "browser action" icon in the toolbar to toggle it on and off, or customize your settings on a per-site basis. Use a convenient keyboard shortcut to quickly change your settings while your browse.
Other extensions try to change the default colors, but this ends up breaking many popular websites. Only this extension applies filters to your page that invert almost everything - the only exception is photos, which are left alone.
Also note that the Chrome web store and other built-in pages like the New Tab page and Settings pages are unaffected - extensions like this one are not allowed to modify them, by design.

The High Contrast extension seems abandoned, so we ported it to Manifest V3, added better UI, and made it available on all major browsers. Link for Chrome users: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/high-contrast-eye-protect/eibmamgcpamdfpfdlcmmjiofgladcadk

MESSAGE TO DEVELOPER: PLEASE UPGRADE THIS EXTENSION SINCE ITS NO LONGER SUPPORTED AND I NEEEEEEEED THIS FOR MY POOR VISION. I WILL GLADLY EVEN PAY $5 FOR IT. I AM STRUGGLING TRYING TO WORK WITHOUT IT :(
NO LONGER SUPPORTED
не работает в полноэкранном режиме.
i have both poor vision and photosensitive epilepsy, this extension and the ability to toggle is AMAZING especially because you can set it to not do its thing on certain websites. i messed with my computer settings for hours and nothing proved to be as useful as this extension in making me able to *see* without causing issues with my photosensitivity. in fact i can even use it to help my photosensitivity due to the greyscale features. honestly the only good accessibility extension i have seen and tried out.
ECCELLENTE, MA DOPO APPENA 3 GIORNI HA SMESSO DI FUNZIONAE!!!! ... ECCHECC4@@0!
I like the Increased Contrast a lot, but it can make text unreadable on sites with small text. Google search looks awesome with this setting (if you zoom in). Zooming in solves the issue, but I don't want to always zoom in of course. Also I tried Yellow on Black and it turns out Black on Yellow.
This otherwise great app has one problem. Enabling High Contrast changes the colors on the page, not just bolding the text. Amazon's yellow buttons become orange.
Resolved! After further twiddling, I found a switch at the the 3-dots on the taskbar to open the menu to customize Chrome>Extensions>Manage Extension>select the High Contrast one>click on Details and find the switch to turn on Pin To Task Bar. There are numerous other switches there to play with, too, but they seem to be set to a favorable default and I left them alone. The extension now worked on Gmail, Google search screens and web pages, but it doesn't work on this or other primary Chrome sites such as you home screen. ***Original post*** I've used this extension for several years and it is a little quirky at time. It seems after an update of Chrome or sometimes simply closing the program it loses its memory and takes several days before it will respond. However, as of May 22, it lost all access. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and the icon appeared on the taskbar at the end of the process while an instructional overlay was hanging there, but as soon as I clicked on the icon as instructed everything disappeared and neither Shft+11 or +12 produced any access or result.
