Product summary

Review the store description, core capabilities, and common use cases.

High Contrast lets you browse the web with your choice of several high-contrast color filters designed to make it easier to read text.

When you install this extension, all pages are "inverted", so black becomes white and white becomes black. Press the "browser action" icon in the toolbar to toggle it on and off, or customize your settings on a per-site basis. Use a convenient keyboard shortcut to quickly change your settings while your browse.

Other extensions try to change the default colors, but this ends up breaking many popular websites. Only this extension applies filters to your page that invert almost everything - the only exception is photos, which are left alone.

Also note that the Chrome web store and other built-in pages like the New Tab page and Settings pages are unaffected - extensions like this one are not allowed to modify them, by design.

Exceptional plugin if you like to let your eyes rest for a while. It also is able to grey-scale pictures and videos, making even highly graphical sites easy on the eyes and relaxing. While some users dislike the fact that pictures are affected by the filters, I find it more intuitive and being the correct behavior. However it might be better to be an option. Also the flash content is distorted with the filters on, at least on Linux.

For many sites it works well although the inverted color scheme looks odd at times. The real downfall is with pictures. The page could be all black text on bright white background, but because of photos I have to alter the settings or turn it off completely. If it could recognize photos, I'd give a higher rating.

Pretty pitiful. Nice idea and I was excited about it but it is just about useless. For some reason when using it it makes chrome's performance take a nose dive. Browsing becomes very slow. It also inverts everything is shouldn't be inverting so unless you are on a webpage with pure text it makes the pages look like crap. I'm also using Chrome 20.??? beta. The newest version. Does not work perfectly in Chrome 19 or higher like someone else stated.

I am using Chrome 19. The extension basically invert all colours including photos and turn them into freaking ugly look. And I tried it on G+ and gmail, same effect. Thumb down until they improve it.

Outstanding! Very easy on the eyes when viewing web pages in the evening. It's great to have a "whitelist" to manage web pages you do not wish to darken!

If it did not affect pictures or how to disable the option would be perfect

Great for night browsing. If the extension could change the tab-bar / omni-bar dark too, then Night-Mode would be unstoppable.

Definitely does not do exactly as it says: Running Chrome 19, pic colors DO get inverted/skewed.
