High Contrast lets you browse the web with your choice of several high-contrast color filters designed to make it easier to read text.
When you install this extension, all pages are "inverted", so black becomes white and white becomes black. Press the "browser action" icon in the toolbar to toggle it on and off, or customize your settings on a per-site basis. Use a convenient keyboard shortcut to quickly change your settings while your browse.
Other extensions try to change the default colors, but this ends up breaking many popular websites. Only this extension applies filters to your page that invert almost everything - the only exception is photos, which are left alone.
Also note that the Chrome web store and other built-in pages like the New Tab page and Settings pages are unaffected - extensions like this one are not allowed to modify them, by design.

Chrome 26 broke this extension. What the hell!!!!
I like it, but the yellow could go and I wish there was way to tell it to ignore images.
Great start, not intirely complete though: lots of images also show up reversed colors, no site references, which ones no to override etc. i love the idea of inverting entire page content, its vaguely useable but not nearly as practical as change colors. chhers
The "inverted color" mode doesn't have to increase the contrast of the images. There should be a seperate "inverted color - high contrast" mode for that.
Inverted grayscale is fine but it should have a option "Do not transform pictures" This app doesnt work anymore on modern websites... to be updated or replaced
after disabling & deleting app "inversion" is still working on some sites.... you made me worry. ) how i can repair my browser now ? y's app become a legitime virus ))))
This would be a fantastic extension if it didn't slow down Chrome dramatically! I thought my computer had gotten a virus until I disabled it!
A marked improvement. I was getting headaches which, once I worked out what was causing the problem, forced me to have to reduce the brightness of my screen, which in turn made everything look washed and bleak. Now with High Contrast app, my eyes do not feel strained and old and I have a display in colours/shades that I choose and prefer and that are better for my health.
For the vision impaired ... as is the case for me (pigmentary glaucoma) ... this is an absolutely essential plugin ... I have tried just about every setting immaginable on all of the major browsers and, until I encountered this plugin for Chrome, all of them had significant flaws. Usually, with high contrast settings, a number of anomalies occur which make using the browser difficult, if not impossible: black text on black background, buttons and dropdown lists disappearing, links becoming unreadable, images being blanked out, multiple javascript and stylesheet levels clobbering each other, etcetera ... Obviously, I will have to do more testing, but if this feature continues to render pages this well, it is going to force me to use Chrome as my default browser ... I haven't tested it yet for screen reader, which is critical for the non-sighted, but I will be checking that as well ... The fact that there is a fully exposed icon at the top of the browser makes changing the setting very easy ... This is important because switching between inverted color, inverted greyscale, high contrast, grayscale and normal allow for rapid adjustments as different page contexts are encountered ... So, depending on whether your eyes are normal and just looking for less strain, or whether you are visually impaired in some way, you can manipulate the settings on the fly ... This is what I was genuinely looking for! ... This is one impressed visually impaired user ... the blind knight errant ...
