Dear Developer, please revert to the previous version and restore the auto-save and window count features.
I 've been using this extension for years, and it has saved my butt a couple of times, but with the latest v4 update, it seems it took a turn for the worse. I don't like the fact that now on the tabs page, it doesn't show how many tabs each window has (unless you mouseover on the title "window") and also it doesn't show anymore the total number of windows of the session. I get that this is a "cleaner" look, but we didn't install this extension for its looks. I hate it when devs go looks over functionality. Please, at least give us the option to enable again seeing permanently the number of tabs next to each window title, and also the window count.
Wirklich sehr schade !
What use is a session manager/backup that deletes my sessions/backup on update? This is beyond stupid and incompetent.
You (the user) are taking a risk when using and relying on this extension to save your sessions and links from this day forward, as you have done in the past. Before this atrocious update to version 4 that we are all using now, there was a feature in version 3 and the ones before it that basically saved ALL of your sessions in a plain database file that could be used in a doomsday scenario to restore your saved sessions even if session buddy crashed and decided to wipe all of your data (has happened to me a few times in the past and that database file has ALWAYS saved my bacon since my exported backups are usually weeks or months old). Anyway, with this new version 4 of Session Buddy, that ability NO LONGER EXISTS. If you do not REGULARLY (meaning everyday) export and backup your work within the Session Buddy menu options and oh, I don't know, Session Buddy decides it wants to auto update and in the process delete/ erase all of your saved sessions, you are going to have a catastrophic problem on your hands. This guy Hans Meyer, keeps saying that all of our work is in that "database" file and yes he is right up until that date of the update to version 4. In a nutshell, Session Buddy has erased ALL of my saved sessions a total of 3 times. It seems that every single time there is an update to it, Session Buddy decides it wants to start anew and delete all of your saved "collections/ sessions". Now this wouldn't be a TERRIBLE problem if there was some sort of local file that is stored on our computer that served as a backup so that in case we lose all of our sessions, we could then restore them using that local backup file. That USED to be the case with version 3 of Session Buddy but now that no longer exists and I have no idea WHERE (or even IF) all of our sessions are now being stored in real time, as we save them from within the browser. This is a deal breaker, NOONE backs up their work everyday and with EVERY update there is a chance that ALL of your saved work could be erased. Oh, and Hans, shame on you for hiding/ blocking my original review of session buddy that I posted a couple of weeks ago on my other account, it was very in depth and could've helped people.
The 2024 overhaul was not well received by the community at first. I got really worried as I thought I lost many sessions that were "saved" in history instead of actual saved sessions. Thankfully they are fine, but some options were missing, weird restrictions to amount of sessions saved were added and such. The creator(s) came swiftly to fix it all. As this extension is free, I don't think some of the harsh backlash is deserved. I really hope so it will stay donation-based in the future. If I could give a feedback...feature bounties are new thing to me and I like them. I saw them with few apps and projects. Community (and devs) suggests features and who wants to can pay the amount they feel right for a feature to be added and when it reaches the donation goal the feature will be soon developed or pushed forward.
