The extension works quietly in the background - every Wikipedia link opens in Wikiwand's clean, modern reader instead. No setup, no configuration. Just Wikipedia, the way it should look.

⭐🕒 Timelines: Every article with a story gets a visual timeline. Because some things are best understood from the very beginning.

⭐🤔 Top Questions: A lightning-fast, accurate, and complete picture of any topic - right alongside the article.

⭐💬 Chat: A reading copilot that understands exactly what you're reading and can answer any question with depth and accuracy.

The new update is horrendous. The UI changes are objectively ugly and bad, and features that were once free are behind a paywall. The back to v2 link takes you the wikiwand homepage, and isn't a permanent setting change. I personally go to wikipedia using the URL bar in chrome - I have it set up so if I type "wiki ", whatever I type next is searched in wikipedia. Previously, it would properly redirect to the wikiwand page without issues. With the new update, it doesn't even do that - it redirects to "https://omni.wikiwand.com/en/articles/w/index.php" for some reason. So I can't even search wikipedia directly from the URL bar like I used to. If you're going to completely change and ruin your extension and how it works, at least make it clear to users that this is something coming alone, properly beta test it, and make it opt out until feature parity is reached and people are overall happy with it. I see in some of the replies to people the developers are saying that the new design is being beta tested - then don't roll it out publicly and make it the default. And the AI stuff being forcefed down our throats is just the dumb, stupid cherry on top. Time to find something else, or go back to regular wikipedia.

I have been a Wikiwand user since early 2015, but for the past week, it has become unusable. Most of the links don't render and instead throw a 500 error. Redirects don't work, the gallery is unusable, and enlarged photos take up only a quarter of the screen in a poorly designed slidedown popup, sometimes appearing smaller than their thumbnails. Additionally, you cannot navigate to the next or previous image with the arrow keys. The "Back to V2" link in the footer just redirects to the homepage, forcing me to search for the same page again to open it in the legacy view—and some pages aren't even available there (How is it possible? I came to the home page by a link in a footer of a wikipedia page, and the homepage search bar cannot find this very page. Thats a master level engineering) How hard would it be to relink the "Back to V2" button to actually point to https://www.wikiwand.com/<language>/<page>? My favorited languages are gone, links I haven't used in the last decade are now prominently pushed as calls to action, and I have to scroll all the way down to find the "Read on Wikipedia" link. I don't know if this was due to a new investor, a new Product Manager with a big tech background who doesn't care about product quality and user experience (but do care about their personal promotion, because hey, they released a new product!), or perhaps an external digital agency trying to impress and charge by the hour. Regardless, the person responsible for these updates clearly does not use Wikiwand daily, doesn't understand the original concept, and has no grasp of what "Wikipedia Modernized" means. You have become worse than the issues you promised to fix. I wrote my own extension to redirect to the legacy V2 view and will use it until it's no longer possible. After that, I'll likely return to using the original Wikipedia. Thanks for ruining the experience and taking away all the value we cherished over all those years together.

Since this new update/overhaul or whatever, many of the wikipedia links don't get replaced with wikiwand at all. They either go straight to wikipedia instead of wikiwand wrapper, or I get a 500 error. Near useless at this point. Will continuously update review if something changes. EDIT: Changed revew from 1 star to 3 stars. Most of my problems seem to have disappeared or lessened to the point of being mostly unnoticeable. Haven't had a 500 error in quite a while and only a handful of wiki pages don't get directed through the wikiwand wrapper. As for the UI and AI part of the new updates - it doesn't bother me all that much. I appreciate all of the new options, but I miss the old UI being able to fill the majority of my widescreen as compared to the new options. Still a great extension, imo.

After renewing the extension, the following issue keeps occurring. When searching for something in Chinese and clicking the wikipedia link, I always see the wikiwand link as "https://www.wikiwand.com/zh/zh-tw/...". I have no choice but to manually make the wikiwand page normal by deleting "/zh" to change the link to "https://www.wikiwand.com/zh-tw/...".

I truly loved this extension. The overhaul they've done incorporates AI to make it less readable and less user friendly with no clear way to revert. I don't understand what the motivation was here but it's a misstep for certain.

This previously superb Wikipedia wrapper (one I happily used for years!) is now primarily focused on recurring revenue and shoveling LLM-fueled generative hallucinations down your throat, not on remaining true to what made it worth using: being a strictly superior Wikipedia browsing experience, esp. for those of us who prefer to read articles in more than one language. In other words: this was great, but now it sucks. Sorry. Wikipedia supports dark mode now, y'all. Just turn that on, uninstall this dumpster fire, and keep browsing. (PS, if the extension's maintainers read this: I understand that you gotta make a living too and don't begrudge you personally of your attempts to milk some sweet, sweet subscription fees outta your userbase. You gotta be VERY CAREFUL when you're trying to add value to one of the most valuable /free/ public services on the internet, though, lest people go back to using the free thing without your garbage haphazardly plastered atop)

I like the idea of this extension so much!. But there's a one problem, the extension on edge looks different from that on chrome, and this's irritating for me because I see that the edge's is more aesthetic.

The new version needs to bring back the top photo or image which is a main feature of Wikiwand. There is also an internal server error that occurs in pages of other languages than English (It occurs on Arabic pages for me). On the positive side the W, D and Q features accompanied by the keyboard shortcuts and the pop-up bottom screens are a good addition. I don't mind the adoption of some AI features, although it doesn't need to be so much focused on. Thanks and kindly fix the internal server error.
