The EU regulations require that any website using tracking cookies must get user's permission before installing them. Imagine how irritating that becomes when you surf anonymously or if you delete cookies automatically every time you close the browser.
In most cases, it just blocks or hides cookie related pop-ups. When it's needed for the website to work properly, it will automatically accept the cookie policy for you (sometimes it will accept all and sometimes only necessary cookie categories, depending on what's easier to do). It doesn't delete cookies.

Inzwischen geradezu nutzlos geworden. Viele Seiten haben auf einmal Probleme (z.B. lassen sich nicht scrollen, SSO funktioniert nicht, man hängt in Login-Loops, ...), und es war gar nicht mal so einfach, diese Erweiterung als Fehlerquelle zu identifizieren. Schade, die Erweiterung war echt mal gut, nutze sie schon fast zehn Jahre lang, aber inzwischen verursacht sie mehr Ärger als Nutzen.

Sobre o Comentário abaixo (Kobzar): Essa multa saiu muito barato para o Avast, hein? 6 anos coletando e vendendo dados, rendeu bem mais que esses 16 milhões de dólares. Mas é aquela máxima de sempre: Se o Serviço é de Graça, o Produto é Você. Sugestão: uBlock Origin com filtros de annoyances e cookie notices (Embora a versão completa só esteja funcionando no Firefox e Edge)
