NewsGuard's reliability ratings for news and information sources help users make decisions about which news sources to trust—and avoid misinformation and disinformation.

Our ratings, scores, and Nutrition Labels for websites are displayed next to links on search engines and social media platforms and cover all the news websites accounting for 95% of online engagement.

Ratings are conducted by a team of experienced journalists using nine basic, apolitical journalistic criteria. Each site receives a trust score of 0-100, an overall rating level ranging from “High Credibility” to “Proceed with Caution,” and a thorough Nutrition Label report detailing the site’s ownership and financing, content, credibility practices, transparency practices, and history.

Me encanta esta extensión. Te ayuda a discernir entre las fuentes legítimas y corruptas de noticias. Lo malo es que no han calificado muchas fuentes en español.

It's a great concept and is generally pretty solid. I would definitely say it leans a little left (The New York Times is green checked across the board, and is far from a perfect new source). Still, its pretty solid and is just one more way to check your biases

Clearly the 'if I don't like it it's not true' and 'mainstream news is biased against me' faction of the internet has come to attack this extension, so I'll chime in to balance the reviews a bit. This is a hugely important extension I think. I teach people how to recognize fake and extremely biased information sources, and this is a perfect tool for my toolkit. To be able to show people the nutrition label for sites is great. Their methodology is sound (not perfect, but sound) and I find the results to be really useful. Nothing like this is ever going to please everyone but to claim that it's biased because it does not give Infowars a green check is so far from a ding against them that it's laughable.

I am still testing it, but it is very useful to flag the obviously bad websites. There is probably some work to do around bias, and maybe expand the rating classifications. But I generally really like having this tool when I'm hunting for news.

Now spams a TOC popup page **EVERYTIME** you open the browser. Was a useful tool for telling the difference between reputable journalists or not. more hassle than its worth.

Terribly biased against websites which feature criticism of Israel.

Don't know if this Newsguard is politically biased but when I see RT is red flagged as Russian propaganda but Qatar owned Al Jazeera is green flagged and credible, that's a major head scratcher. CNN and Fox News are labeled green as well despite the fact that both are obviously politically biased. The fact is all of these sites provide an abundance of factual general news articles except when it comes to not offending their owners or framing news through their biased political prisms. Newsguard is a shining example of Either/Or fallacy with misleading green or red labels. Take it with a grain of salt.

Totally Bias, don't use this garbage. it's almost like it's propaganda, making you look at what it wants you to look at and discredits what it doesn't want you to know. STAY AWAY FROM THIS.

Clearly identifies where there are reasons to be concerned about a site. Holds both right and left leaning sites to the same standard.
