NewsGuard's reliability ratings for news and information sources help users make decisions about which news sources to trust—and avoid misinformation and disinformation.

Our ratings, scores, and Nutrition Labels for websites are displayed next to links on search engines and social media platforms and cover all the news websites accounting for 95% of online engagement.

Ratings are conducted by a team of experienced journalists using nine basic, apolitical journalistic criteria. Each site receives a trust score of 0-100, an overall rating level ranging from “High Credibility” to “Proceed with Caution,” and a thorough Nutrition Label report detailing the site’s ownership and financing, content, credibility practices, transparency practices, and history.

This extension is BIASED. It has The Onion - America's Finest News Source - marked as "not an actual news source." Ridiculous. I'm not sure who this stupid app is even intended for: if I wanted my information to reflect reality I wouldn't even need NewsGuard, I would be getting all my news from mainstream sites to begin with, instead of clicking on random garbage until I find something that is more entertaining, reinforces my pre-existing opinion, or both. Wake up sheeple! This app is a clear attack on your ability to just do and say whatever you want without ever being called out or facing any consequences whatsoever. And you can't even refute the app's bogus claims, because all the sources you'd want to cite about some elderly woman's emails or how blue eyes are going extinct, or how biased the liberal media is are themselves labeled as fake and misleading! Terrible. Like other reviewers have said, this is exactly like 1984, provided you never read - or at least fundamentally misunderstood - that book. NewsGuard is fake fake news. Sad.

Its great in concept and the UI is executed well - But it is biased against reputable conservative news sources. Nearly all I checked were rated "Proceed with caution" - From The Blaze, Breitbart, Drudge Report... Again, great in concept but biased. The fact that Huffington Post, MSNBC, New York Times all have acceptational trustworthy ratings show the problem.

Originally reported the Daily Mail as an unreliable source of news (which is obviously correct). After meetings with the Daily Mail it now reports it to be a reliable source of news. I believe that such a quick change of opinion totally misrepresents the unbiased view it claims to have.

This app literally rates fake news as fact. Things that have been retracted and proven false for years too. I suggest not using it.

Useless extension. Propaganda tool by itself, just as reliable as the fake news websites it pretends to filter.

NewsGuard helps me learn more about news sources as I'm browsing the web. I don't agree with every rating they issue, but they provide an explanation and context that's helpful even when I choose to ignore their advice.

There are a lot of fake news marked as real news, who is fact checking all of this, why is buzzfeed a trusted website when it is like 80% fake news, why are huffpost and cnn retracted articles because of fake news still show as trusted, this plugin is just like Microsoft Windows Defender USELESS
