Product summary

Review the store description, core capabilities, and common use cases.

Allows you to change the new tab page to the New Tab Redirect app page, or a custom URL of your choice!

Choose from chrome's about pages, *NewTab, Extensions, Downloads, History*, a few popular URLs, or provide your own. Your custom tab can also be a local file, allowing you to create your own new tab page. Saving blank text will cause your new tab to be about:blank.

Files can begin with: file:\\, file://, and file:///

Important: This is not meant to replace your homepage, only new tabs. If your browser is set to load the New Tab page as your homepage, there may be odd consequences.

Note: Because this extension perform a "redirect", I have no control over address bar highlighting or focus.

It does what I need it to, lets me customize my new tab experience to be any page I desire. 1 problem: It doesn't keep the keyboard focus in the omnibox. I want to hit a new tab and instantly begin typing in the omnibox. but with this extension installed I have to use the keyboard shortcut or click into the omnibox to get its focus.

Awesome, just can't wait till/if Chrome adds functionality so you can make it so that when I open a new tab it automatically highlights the url bar. thanks

It would be nice if you have the about:blank selected, the omnibar should have auto-focus and clear the about:blank text on it.

works great, except typing in a url when opening a new tab (a common, nearly always? occurrence) is a pain because the omnibar is not focused in the new tab. i've found a quick Tab press after ctrl+T for the new tab focuses the omnibar. if you don't type fast enough, the selection is removed, but you can still re-select (and then overwrite) the default url with ctrl+A. keyboard control 4eva. ps. thanks jim!

This is great but I get a little annoyed that when I hit tab it doesn't automatically highlight the address bar so I can begin typing a url. That adds an extra click to make focus in the address bar. With the extension disabled new tab will automatically focus on the address bar so that you can click new tab and begin typing a URL immediately if what you want isnt on your new tab page. Please change this one thing!

Would give it one more star if one of the options was just "homepage" so that I didn't have to change my homepage in two locations. Would give it the other star if it put the cursor back in the address bar after loading the selected page.

Why this isn't built in to Chrome, I'm not sure - but this great extension does exactly what is promised and took away one of the very few frustration points I have with Chrome.
