Allows you to change the new tab page to the New Tab Redirect app page, or a custom URL of your choice!
Choose from chrome's about pages, *NewTab, Extensions, Downloads, History*, a few popular URLs, or provide your own. Your custom tab can also be a local file, allowing you to create your own new tab page. Saving blank text will cause your new tab to be about:blank.
Files can begin with: file:\\, file://, and file:///
Important: This is not meant to replace your homepage, only new tabs. If your browser is set to load the New Tab page as your homepage, there may be odd consequences.
Note: Because this extension perform a "redirect", I have no control over address bar highlighting or focus.

Didn't work
Personalmente, no me ha funcionado con windows 8.1
I really like this. Cant get the chrome:apps page to select the url once the new tab generates, it requires me to hit CTRL+L which it didn't do beforehand. I now realise that this is because of a Google Chrome limitation regarding omnibar selection. Therefore, I now give this 5 stars. Thanks for making this app.
i want to report a bug. steps to recreate this are; 1.open a website in a tab 2.click on new tab button 3.switch back immediately to the previous tab (with site opened) 4.new tab apps will open in that tab instead of the new tab .new tab remains blank and the open website will close and apps open on it's own. this extension just closed an opened website

There is now a check box to keep the omnibar focussed while loading a tab of your choice. PLEASE DON'T CHANGE A THING! It's perfect now! @Brent Allison: Don't give a bad review because you don't know how to go into settings > extensions and disable or remove an extension.

Exactly what I was looking for. Tired of having to type chrome://apps everytime I wanted a new tab.
All it needs back is the "highlighted" address bar upon opening a new tab :(
