Allows you to change the new tab page to the New Tab Redirect app page, or a custom URL of your choice!

Choose from chrome's about pages, *NewTab, Extensions, Downloads, History*, a few popular URLs, or provide your own. Your custom tab can also be a local file, allowing you to create your own new tab page. Saving blank text will cause your new tab to be about:blank.

Files can begin with: file:\\, file://, and file:///

Important: This is not meant to replace your homepage, only new tabs. If your browser is set to load the New Tab page as your homepage, there may be odd consequences.

Note: Because this extension perform a "redirect", I have no control over address bar highlighting or focus.

Following the gitbug link, I have just read the author's excuses regarding the new version 3 permissions. Well, Jim, when most of your users have uninstalled your extension, you might want to focus on their needs and not your ego.

I only came here to rate this with one star after it suddenly required massive intrusion into my browsing activity. I uninstalled this extension. Was great before he modified it. Beware of developers like this. Their only real intent is to pry into your personal life and in worse case even cause fraudulent activity including stealing your identity and other information. Extensions like this should be banned. If you're looking for another extension with minimal permissions, search for "New Tab Changer". It only requires one permission. (And no, I'm not the developer of that extension).

This is 2nd extension in a week trying to add ridiculous permissions. i really liked this extension, but will now uninstall and recommend others to do same. Hence why giving it one star, no need for greater intrusion when the extension worked just fine before.

I too, like another person who recently commented am giving it one star, as the need for even greater intrusion when the extension worked just fine before is intolerable. I will no longer use this extension, and highly recommend others do not either. There is absolutely NO reason for you to need more information with such a simple extension, which worked just fine before whatever changes you made. I will never find out what the changes were, because I will NOT allow the type of intrusions into my information for which you are asking. If you ever decide to revert back, then perhaps I will try again. Or, if the extension is open source, into which I am going to check, perhaps I will learn to code and either make a new one for others or rewrite your without all the intrusions into information that is none of your or anyone else's business.

I installed this a week ago because I wanted to get the apps page back. Today it was disabled because it suddenly requires far more permissions than it did before. It worked fine before without all these insane permissions. Therefore, it gets a one star rating. I don't know if this is about stealing our information and selling it to advertisers, but I strongly suspect this is the case. There is an extension called "Show apps in new tab page" that requires far fewer permissions. Does the same thing, and I don't have to manually remove "chrome://apps" from the URL bar.

This was working great as a workaround for Google's removal of the New Page Tab with application icons... at least it was until this latest revision which asks for too much permission (ability to read browsing history, for example). Please reduce the permission requirements.

This would be greatly improved if when redirecting to a photo, it had the option to fill the space with that photo, rather than sticking it in the left corner, leaving the rest of the space white. Due to that problem, it's not useful for personalized photos. Still, redirecting to the Apps page is an improvement over Chrome's mandatory, uncustomizable new tab page.

The new conditions are just really unnecessary. I do not know how to uninstall?

This extension is great, but I'm going to uninstall it. The newest version requires A LOT unnecessary permissions. Seems fishy.
