Allows you to change the new tab page to the New Tab Redirect app page, or a custom URL of your choice!
Choose from chrome's about pages, *NewTab, Extensions, Downloads, History*, a few popular URLs, or provide your own. Your custom tab can also be a local file, allowing you to create your own new tab page. Saving blank text will cause your new tab to be about:blank.
Files can begin with: file:\\, file://, and file:///
Important: This is not meant to replace your homepage, only new tabs. If your browser is set to load the New Tab page as your homepage, there may be odd consequences.
Note: Because this extension perform a "redirect", I have no control over address bar highlighting or focus.

Who the hell are you to ask all these unnecessary permissions? Reading my web history? LOL Bye bye New Tab Redirect!
Das mit den Berechtigungen hat auch mich geärgert. Alternativen? Fiefox ;) Geht dort ohne Erweiterung: about:config > browser.newtab.url
A simple and effective tool. All I wanted was to be able to select a specific page for new tabs. This does that without trying to be a front page of a browser.
I came here to read reviews explaining why a simple redirect app would need all the new permissions. Oh, it does not? I don't want any new functionality. Uninstalling.
Permision to access everything is nonsense.
Asking for too many permissions, disabled, threw away.
I removed it after getting a notice of new permissions needed. Even after reading the authors web page, I uninstalled this app. It's basically spyware now. Did the author get a job at the NSA or do you just want to read and modify bookmarks,read and modify browsing history, manage apps, extensions and themes? It's up to me to modify and change what I want, not you! On his web page it shows how to re-install ver 2.2, but honestly, I no longer trust this developer.
