Very useful but can you guys update the gui so something similiar to the hangouts extension since hangouts is dead ive deleted and unlinked hangouts from google voice to use the dedicated gvoice app and this web extension but its not as nice as the old hangouts 1 i had installed also pls add dark theme

As of Sep 2019, the extension no longer works, except to receive messages. Click to call does not work and you cannot reply to texts. According to this thread, Google has no plan to fix: https://support.google.com/voice/thread/11150718?hl=en

Clunky in use. Much better experience clicking the button to go to the Inbox in a browser page. If they could make THAT into the app -- similar to the Hangouts Chrome app it would be much much better. This seems like it's the Classic version of Google Voice and not integrated fully.

I am on a Google Chrome Acer tablet, with google voice on my cell, but Google does NOT make an outright APP to download to their own tablets or other tablets, and it does NOT fully function if it is not on a cell with active phone service. Seriously ridiculous... And, it can useful for text, so why have hangouts????? I have Never used hangouts except to be solicited to it from social apps for sex and money by females.

The extension has three tabs: [Call][Text][Inbox] and they all used to be very useful. Here's their current status: [Call]: You can enter a name in your contacts or a phone number; when you press 'connect' is takes you to your google voice page where, depending on your g.voice settings, it will either start the call in hangouts or ask you which phone to connect the call to. The extension used to have these options directly in the API which was more streamlined and efficient. [Text]: It's currently useless. You can no longer send text messages through the extension which was a big benefit to the extension. [Inbox]: You can see a few of your recently received text messages here and mark them as 'read' by clicking on them. You can archive them or delete them which will also affect those messages in the google voice page. However, you cannot reply to the text message nor can you call the person even though there are buttons for these options (and they used to work). Other options include 1) turning on/off clickable numbers on webpages that would initialize a phone call but that no longer seems to work even though the phone numbers still appear to be clickable. 2) new message alert which you can't rely on since it often doesn't work. The extension used to be wonderful. Now it's just a way to quickly see an incoming google voice text message.

Click on a phone number on a webpage to call, or select the phone number to bring up pop-up to call, no longer works with the Chrome update in Jan. 2020. Very disappointed in Google Voice team!
