Worked for me.
I'd give it zero start if possible. It doesn't work at all. When It's set as "disable all image animation," the images just animate as they pleased.

Works perfectly, windows 10, latest chrome. May 2021 - install the extension - close & restart browser (might not be required) - click the 'puzzle' piece to see extensions, click the lightning bolt - select the animation mode - refresh the page with the annoying gifs... they've stopped! NOTE: only stops gifs, not html or flash animations. If you're not sure if it's a gif that is annoying you, right click on the animation and select 'save image as...' If it is a gif the dialog will show "file type: Compuserve GIF (*.gif)"
could you add an option to whitelist certain sites but block animations on every other one?
Worked to stop endless looping images on wikipedia pages. Makes it way easier to read texts without diagrams playing over and over and over UGH WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT THAT

Worked great in earlier versions of Vivaldi browser. Now Vivaldi has that as a setting option. Not as handy as this extension, but I set up a keyboard shortcut for it, so it's ok. Thanks to the Dev for a great extension. I'll be removing it, since updated Vivaldi overrides it.
