This is an open-source extension that changes homepage of Youtube (only search bar) and drops recommendations/comments from other pages.
Extension requires access to Youtube website to change its outlook.
Extension icon opens a popup with an option to show/hide the comments section of a video (to check timestamps in comments, for example). In the latest version, an option to temporarily disable the extension was added.
You can hover over the YouTube logo to access the navigation menu – playlists, liked videos, watch history, etc.

Hey, is there a way to quickly able and disable that? I wanted to be able to block it when I gotta study
I would give this extension a 6/5. Youtube has been a horrible source of distraction for me even though I specified so much disinterest in random recommended topics and channels. I can't block youtube from my host file or use website blockers because I need lecture videos from Youtube. This extension is perfect!
Every time I use YouTube either I watch some vlogs or start scrolling shorts. This extension has helped me alot
