Product summary

Review the store description, core capabilities, and common use cases.

It’s the add-on for Google Chrome, it turns browser into what it has never been in it’s life: a browser that is no longer resource killer (and if you have ever used Google’s browser you know very well what I’m talking about, with the results on Windows or macOS). The Marvellous Suspender has everything you need to allow you to control the behavior of active / inactive tabs and thus free up RAM when possible, in a transparent way, you do the first configuration and then you forget it exists, what you can do is only that couple of clicks that will serve to manually suspend a tab that you have awakened by mistake by selecting it.

Fork of the original The Great Suspender, but without those modifications that go to invade user privacy. You can find the official repository at github.com/gioxx/MarvellousSuspender, feel free to participate if you have the skills to do that.

You can learn about updates on TMS by following the blog and the official extension page at https://gioxx.org/tms :-)

Just another suspender clone, same vulnerabilities, same non-fuctionality. Incapable to use the memory saver ("discard") function inside chrome but acts as if it does, but it will absolutely NOT.

It had stopped working since the previous chrome update. After the update all resumed. Does whatever it needs to do. Nothing more nothing less

Functionally works great...the memory is indeed freed. The make-or-break feature for me is the favicon. Having every tab fade to the Marvelous Suspender icon really counteracts the usefulness here. I end up reopening 10 tabs to find the 1 I'm looking for, every time. Sounds like this is an intentional limitation. I'd be happy to pay for this feature, if it were available. Moving to try something else... Note: Be sure to un-suspend all tabs before uninstalling. Otherwise, they're nearly unrecoverable.

Для старого компьютера с маленьким RAM такое расширение просто спасение и шанс на дальнейшее продолжение "жизни".

Until any of the great suspender ports fix the favicon error which happens on every suspended tab, after reopening the browser (the tab website icon converts to a hidden, default suspender icon), NOBODY should use this. If you have more than a couple tabs, this is a deal-breaker. The Great Suspender Reloaded has the identical issue. ALL of you should use brave browser with the great suspender notrack, because it's the only way to not have this awful glitch nobody seems to care about. I have to literally click on every single tab after restarting my computer, or browser, because of this just to see the website icons. No Thank you, I'll continue to use this until google inevitably destroys manifest V2 support in brave: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/the-great-suspender-notra/ahkbmjhfoplmfkpncgoedjgkajkehcgo

Generally works well for its intended purpose and I appreciate the customization options, but I've had a few Chrome-specific issues recently that I've attributed to this extension. Occasionally, for whatever reason, a tab that should suspend refuses to suspend. Not a big deal normally, except this seemingly affects overall browser performance and stability. I was wondering why, from time to time, Chrome would start to freeze, become sluggish, etc., out of nowhere. Went through every troubleshooting step I could think of and could not diagnose why it would happen or predict when it would next occur. Then, one day during a particularly bad freezing session, I noticed that the Soundcloud tab was not suspended. Weird, I thought, as I had not opened it for a few days and nothing active was on the page. I forcibly put it to sleep and boom: the issue disappeared entirely. Today, the same sort of scenario played out: Chrome freezing up, ESPN Fantasy Basketball tab not yet suspended that should've already been suspended, immediate and permanent improvement after force suspending. And, no, I can assure you this was not a memory leak or CPU-related issue. While it's possible these were just coincidences and the "bad" tabs had nothing to do with MS, i.e. closing them is what did the trick, I tested this theory by turning off the extension and had no performance issues during this period of time, including with those same URLs. And the mere fact that they did not suspend as they normally should suggests something, indeed, was abnormal that was then compounded by MS trying to do what it is designed to do.

I have used this extension (and its predecessor) for ... maybe 10 years, and I'm thankful that it exists and reliably helps managing my browser memory.
