When you pause a YouTube video, the player controls don't disappear. That makes it really hard to take a clean screenshot of the video. The controls also block your view, which can get really annoying. Hyde is a simple Chrome extension that allows you to hide or show the video player controls easily.
⭐ Simply use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+M to hide the controls or show them again. ⭐

You are a f*****g genius! Thank you sooooooooooooooooo much. Bruh you have no idea. Thank you again!
Very useful! Would love if it was working for YouTube shorts though since text and icons tend to block the lower half of the video all the time.
not work for Brave.
Very useful, but Ctrl+M doesn't close the controls on clips. You have to quit out of the clip and separately navigate to the full video (if you click the "show full video" at the bottom, Ctrl+M will continue to not close the controls). Works great on non-clip videos, though.
Does what it's supposed to do!
THANK YOU OMG this has been plaguing me
pog
Does exactly what I needed - thank you!
Everyone who says it doesn't work please try pressing ctrl + m
Just installed this on Chrome Version 127.0.6533.88 on Windows 10, because a YouTube video had text I needed to read that was being covered by the controls whenever I paused it. Argh! Worked perfectly, straight away. Didn't even need to reload the video -- just switched back to that tab, Ctrl+M, controls gone, perfect. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Much appreciated! Crazy that it's needed...
